What is MoMo Helep ?
MoMo Helep is a financial facility that allows MoMo customers to complete transactions initiated from their MoMo wallet even if they have insufficient funds. Eligible transactions include:
- P2P (within the MoMo network and to another network)
- MoMo Pay (to pay merchants within the MoMo network and another network)
- Purchase of bundles (for my number, for another number, from MTN MoMo Gift)
- Purchase of credit (for my number, for another number, from MTN MoMo Gift)
- Bill payments
- Payment of vouchers
What should I do if I want to use MoMo Helep to complete a transaction?
- Dial the code 126# or 126*61# on your phone.
- Choose the MoMo Helep option to subscribe to the service.
- Enter your PIN code to confirm your identity and finalize the subscription.
- Select the ‘6 – Savings and Loans’ option in the menu that appears. The system will then process your credit score, and you will receive a message informing you of your overdraft limit via SMS. Once the subscription is complete, you will receive a confirmation message, and if the amount is lower than your MoMo account balance, you will receive a suggestion to complete the transaction using MoMo Helep.
What are the benefits of MoMo Helep?

How to use my MoMo Helep loan?
Your MoMo Helep loan can be used for the following types of transactions:
Payments: You can use your MoMo Helep loan to make payments such as:
- Credit (mobile)
- Internet bundles
- Bills: Canal+, Camwater, Eneo, Taxes, MTN bills, etc.
Transfers (P2P): You can also use MoMo Helep to send money to other users via Person-to-Person (P2P) transfers.
Are there any fees to use MoMo Helep?
- No, subscribing to the MoMo Helep service is free.
Repayment duration and fees after borrowing
- When you take out a loan, the access fee is 3.5% of the amount.
- You will also be charged daily fees of 0.5% applicable to the remaining principal, for 30 days or until full repayment within the 30 days.
How to repay my MoMo Helep loan?

Automatic Repayment: As soon as you receive money in your MoMo account, the amount owed (including the principal and fees) will be automatically debited to repay your MoMo Helep loan.
Is there a limit to the number of loans a customer can initiate each day?
- No, there is no limit. The customer can initiate as many loans per day as they wish, up to the eligible amount
Can I get a MoMo Helep loan if I have an outstanding debt?
- No, any customer with an outstanding debt (including Extension or MoMoKash) cannot receive a MoMo Helep loan.
- The customer must first settle their outstanding debt before being able to initiate a new MoMo Helep loan request.
What action is taken for a customer who has not repaid their debt after 30 days?
If a customer does not repay their loan after 30 days, several actions will be taken:
- The customer will no longer be able to take out a MoMo Helep loan or use the service until they have repaid their debt.
- Their credit limit will also be reduced.
- The customer will be blacklisted, preventing them from accessing the MoMo Helep service until the debt is fully repaid.
What fees or penalties will be applied after 30 days?
- No additional fees will be applied after 30 days, as the maximum fees are set at 18.5% over a 30-day period.
- The interest rate will no longer apply, but the customer’s account will be deactivated. The customer will not be able to borrow via MoMo Helep until the debt is repaid.
- The customer will not be able to unsubscribe from MoMo Helep without fully repaying the debt. In case of non-repayment, the customer will be blacklisted, preventing them from accessing the MoMo Helep service
If I resubscribe to MoMo Helep after my account has been deactivated, will I have to pay the subscription fees this time?
- No, you will not pay any fees for a second subscription to the MoMo Helep service after your account has been deactivated.
- The subscription remains free (0 FCFA) for all MoMo customers, whether they are new or resubscribed.
How to unsubscribe from the MoMo Helep service?
To unsubscribe from the MoMo Helep service, follow these steps:
- Dial the code *126# on your phone.
- Select option 6 (Savings and Loans).
- Choose option 1 (MoMo Helep).
- Select option 3 (Unsubscribe).
Important: To unsubscribe from MoMo Helep, the customer must have no outstanding debt. Make sure to settle any debt before proceeding with the unsubscription.
