MTN Cameroon, leader of the electronics communication sector in Cameroon, announces that its CEO, Hendrik Kasteel, will be leaving the Company at the end of March 2020.

Hendrik joined MTN in September 2018. In his capacity as CEO, he has been instrumental in the turnaround of MTN Cameroon.

Under Hendrik’s leadership, MTN Cameroon has regained the growth trajectory after 4 years of decline, with a phenomenal increase of the customer base to 10 million subscribers, and a tremendous growth of MTN Mobile Money.

Mr. Kasteel has also re-positioned the Company from a stakeholder management perspective, strengthening relations with the country as well as the business community.

“Hendrik’s hands-on approach will be sorely missed. The Company respects the decision he has taken for family reasons. While thanking him for the key role he played in MTN Cameroon’s performance, we wish him every success in his future endeavours. “, states Karl. O. Toriola, MTN Group Vice President West and Central Africa.

An announcement will be made in due course regarding a successor to Mr. Kasteel.
