MTN Cameroon and FEDIPRESSE Join Forces for the Digital Transformation of the Cameroonian Print Media

Yaounde, 3 May 2024 –MTN Cameroon, leading telecommunications operator in Cameroon, and the Federation of Press Publishers of Cameroon (FEDIPRESSE) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on 3 May 2024 in Yaoundé.
The document was signed by the 1st Vice-President of FEDIPRESSE, Kristian Ngah, and the General Manager Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at MTN Cameroon, Melvin Akam, in the presence of the Secretary General of MINCOM, Felix Zogo, UNESCO Regional Director for Central Africa, Paul Coustère, the Chairman of the National Communication Council, Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubse, alongside several media publication directors.
This collaboration will be implemented through a range of programmes designed to meet the specific needs of the media in general and press in particular, including :
- Training of journalists in digital writing:Equipping journalists with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age
- Sale and distribution of newspapers: Use of the “Y’ello Kiosk” platform to reach a wider audience and improve distribution efficiency
- MTN Y’ello Press Awards: To recognise and celebrate excellence in journalism in Cameroon.

Through this partnership, MTN Cameroon and FEDIPRESSE will work together to contribute to the progress of the media sector in general and press in particular.
