Thanks to MTN’s SME Go Digital programme dedicated to the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, these businesses benefit from a range of training courses covering management and business development.

Marketing tools to reach new customers and increase sales using digital technology, training courses to learn about business and company management, etc. MTN Cameroon offers a wide range of solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises. Through its SME Go Digital programme, the telecoms giant is using its technological expertise to help Cameroonian SMEs become competitive.

SME Go Digital programme launched by MTN Cameroon’s Enterprise Business Department provides a tailored response to the major challenges facing SMEs. According to government statistics, SMEs account for more than 90% of the country’s economic fabric. However, most of them fail within five years of being established. The main reasons for this are certainly linked to access to finance, but also to the poor technical and managerial skills of the promoters of these SMEs. MTN has therefore developed several concepts in its SME GO Digital programme to address each of these issues.

The programme also includes incubation and a web portal to increase the visibility of these companies’ products and services. For MTN Cameroon, digital technology makes it possible to move faster in the business world. To date, statistics show that more than 10,000 SMEs have benefited from all the SME Go Digital solutions, according to the General Manager of MTN Enterprise Business.

After major cities such as Douala and Yaounde, the SME GO Digital programme is now gradually expanding to other regions of the country. This will help to provide access to digital services throughout the country and promote employment.

“The masterclass has enabled us to increase our turnover.” – Romaric YALEU, SME promoter

“We took part in MTN Cameroon’s masterclass and it was a really interesting programme for our company. It has been beneficial to our business in that it has enabled us to increase our turnover. We were able to attract more customers than usual, thanks in particular to communication with the Go SMS programme which allows us to send bulk messages to multiple contacts similar to the messages we often receive from operators. This facilitates more communication between us and our customers. Thanks to MTN Cameroon’s digital services, we no longer need to recruit sales representatives to go out into the field. Thanks to the internet, as soon as we have the customer’s contact details, MTN offers us services that allow us to access them on the spot. We can even obtain information about the customer’s strategy, which allows us to better adjust our commercial development.”

Franck Gérard KOM, General Manager MTN Enterprise Business

“MTN Business aims to help companies do business better.”

“For the Master Classes, we can support between 7,000 and 8,000 SMEs. For the MTN Business Academy, we can estimate around 2,000 certified SMEs. On the web portal linked to Ayoba, there are currently around 20,000 people in the community who can showcase their products. There are about ten incubations and in the fifth area, which is partnership, we have about twenty SMEs that are partners of MTN.

MTN’s vision for 2025 is to drive digital solutions for development. In terms of MTN business, this ambition is to be the digital expert in helping companies build themselves through connectivity and digitalisation to help them do business better. This can help their productivity and help them achieve their goals. And we work in all sectors, public and private. We have a strategic focus on SMEs, which make up more than 90% of Cameroon’s economic fabric. We are convinced that the best way to compete and win markets is through digital technology. That is why we have developed the SME Go Digital programme. We are integrating certain SDGs related to financial inclusion. SDGs make digital technology a fundamental right. And then there are other aspects related to education and the environment. All these goals can be achieved more quickly with the power of technology. So we don’t just do projects because we want to make money. We do them because we want to have a real impact on people’s lives.”
