2020- Service Operation Centre: Modernity at the service of performance

27/12/25

From Network Operations Centre (NOC) to Services Operations Centre (SOC). Beyond the change in acronym, MTN Cameroon  makes a historic technological leap in February 2020. The SOC now enables the company to monitor not only the status of the network in real time, but also all the services provided by the operator. All from this ultra-modern control centre.

Over forty equipped workstations and a wall that serves as a screen. Curves, icons and various types of graphics scroll across it. This feels like being in an aerospace launch control room. The network status for each site covering the city of Douala can be seen: nothing to report. What about Bamenda, for example? A few clicks from the engineers and the network status in the North-West region is zoomed out.

On the same wall of screens, visitors to the SOC can also see the status of connections provided to large companies in the banking and agri-food sectors. The activity of other services such as MoMo is also displayed, as well as the monitoring of certain promotions accessibles via USSD codes.

From these screens, our engineers can, for example, receive an alert about the status of a site and quickly contact the teams in the field to anticipate any incidents before they occur. Since 2020, this transition from NOC to SOC has improved the efficiency of MTN Cameroon’s teams and quality of service provided to customers.
