Information Security : MTN Cameroon Obtains ISO/IEC 27001 Certification
27/12/25

MTN Cameroon is pleased to announce the acquisition of the ISO/IEC 27001 certification (International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission), international standard that recognizes the implementation of an effective information security management system (ISMS) in accordance with best global practices.
This certification was awarded to MTN Cameroon in December 2025 by the Management Systems Evaluation and Certification Body (MSECB), internationally accredited organization specializing in the evaluation, auditing, and certification of management systems according to international standards. MSECB supports organizations through rigorous audits, ensuring that practices and processes comply with international norms for security, quality, governance, and business continuity.
The certification was achieved after a comprehensive audit of MTN Cameroon’s information security management practices. This process was conducted in November 2025 and included steps such as a complete assessment of existing security systems, risk identification, and the implementation of appropriate controls.
The certification obtained at the conclusion of the work carried out by MSECB attests to the robustness of the information management processes established by MTN Cameroon, based on confidentiality, integrity, and data availability.
“With the ISO/IEC 27001 certification, MTN Cameroon reaffirms its level of digital trust. The data that the company processes is no longer just stored; it is protected in compliance with regulations in Cameroon and global standards,” explains the Chief Technology & Information Systems Officer (CTIO), Swithurn Mwenifumbo.
“Our commitment to providing inclusive digital platforms for the progress of Cameroon must be accompanied by excellence in data governance practices. This is what we have been doing for the past 25 years to earn the trust of Cameroonians,” he added.
