“21 Days of Y’ello Care’’ programme is a charitable and benevolent initiative created by the MTN Group, which has been engaging its employees each year to carry out for 21 days, social actions for the welfare of communities in the 22 footprints of the Group throughout the world since 2007.
The programme “21 Days of Y’ello Care”’ is a social investment policy complement embodied by the MTN Foundation. Unlike the Foundation’s projects that are funded by the Company and achieved over time, the “21 Days of Y’ello Care’’ is supported by the efforts of employees. In all footprints of the MTN Group, employees themselves define the social actions they intend carrying out, and then materially and personally invest in achieving such projects.
Each year, the 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme centres on a theme related to Education, Health, the Environment or Youth Empowerment.
21 days of Y’ello Care in Cameroon: 13 years of voluntarism
13 years ago, the MTN Group launched the 21 days of Y’ello Care. The 2019 edition will mark the 13th anniversary of this benevolent and charitable initiative. 13 years of engagement; 13 years of voluntarism; 13 years at the service of communities.
Since the launch in 2007 of the “21 Days of Y’ello Care”, MTN Cameroon was declared in 2012, 2013 and 2015 winner of the Programme whereby all 22 operations of the Group compete each year to grab the MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer trophy and accompanying annual cash prize of $100.000. In 2016 and 2017, the Company won the West and Central Africa (WECA) Vice President’s award and accompanying annual cash prize of $30.000. An exceptional achievement by an Operation. This recognition by the MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer and WECA Vice President, testifies the engagement of MTN Cameroon to change lives and restore smiles to communities as well as showcases the solidarity, kindness, generosity and humanity of MTNC staff who never relent to assist the needy.
This year once more, MTNC staff with same love and care shall engage to support members of their communities. 21 days in Cameroon, apart from trophies and cash prizes for investment in social projects, means sharing with the heart.
