MTN Foundation, first corporate foundation in Cameroon, announces the donation of three medicalized ambulances to the Ministries of Defence and Public Health.

The significant donation was officially handed to these ministries during a ceremony that took place on 10 November 2017 at the esplanade of the Military Headquarters in Yaounde, in presence of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minister of Public Health, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, South Africa High Commissioner in Cameroon, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon and other top officials of public as well as private institutions.

The three medicalized ambulances are for the Far North region of Cameroon, affected by terrorist attacks. One of the ambulances is offered to the Ministry of Public Health whereas the other two are for the Ministry of Defence. The objective is to enhance the medical response in the affected zone, by easing the transportation of first aid teams for emergency interventions and immediate treatment of victims once they have boarded the ambulances.

Such treatment is possible thanks to the modern equipment of the ambulances, notably:

• Self-loading stretcher with mounting set
• Mobile suction device
• An oxygen system with regulator, flow meter, humidifier and mask
• A complete first aid kit
• Dressing and protection materials
• Cervical collar
• Braces
• Other equipment (universal scissors, pliers, flashlight, urinal, glass breaking apparatus, bags …)

“Solidarity with regard to communities is the AND of MTN. We have to express our solidarity to the inhabitants of the Far North Region and encourage the braveness of the soldiers who protect these citizens”, explained the CEO of MTN.
